The Great Wall of China has captivated the minds of many in the world. It is one of the most well known landmarks in all of the world. It is one of the seven wonders of the world and has been visited by many. It is a regular for many visitors in China and even its inhabitants. However, because of this great captivation many have invented many myths about the Great Wall of China. Among the most prominent of these myths is the Great Wall of China is visible from the moon and space. There are little truth to these claims.
Many of these claims originated even before the first man was on the moon! The wall can only be seen from space at a low altitude and with very little gas and dust interference. However, this can rarely be done. Many pictures have circulated with views of the structure form space but many of them appear to have been fabricated with photoshop or other electronic devices. As with many rumors, not many know where it came from or who even started such a rumor. Before, anyone takes these claims to heart one must evaluate such a claim through evidence. The internet seems to have a good way of circulating rumors fast. Thus, can the Great Wall of China be seen from space? I would answer, unless everything in the sky is clear (doesn't happen in China), the answer is no. The Great Wall of China is not visible from space!
